ABOUT

Konstantina Kokonou

I was born on February 14, 1983. I studied Greek Philology at Democritus University of Thrace, from which I graduated in 2006. During my studies, I taught Modern Greek Language to elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as Modern Greek Literature, Ancient Greek, and History to middle and high school students.

In September 2006, immediately after completing my studies, I started working as a certified philologist in private tutoring centers in Chalkida. In September 2007, I founded my first secondary education tutoring center, “Sygchrono Oikodidaskaleio”, and in 2014, I established my second tutoring center, “Fronti-ZO”.

In September 2015, I published my first book, a fairy tale titled “A Moon Different from the Others”. Through this, I not only expressed my love for teaching but also pursued my passion for writing, especially children’s books.

After 14 years of a successful professional career, in 2020, I moved with my family to Manchester, UK. Since then, I have continued my profession, adapting my teaching approach to meet the needs of Greek students living abroad. By attending specialized seminars on the English educational system, I specialized in teaching Modern Greek as a second foreign language.

Since late 2020, I have been teaching Greek to students preparing for the GCSE and A-Level Greek exams, as well as for the Greek language proficiency exams at all levels. Additionally, I teach children who simply wish to learn the Modern Greek Language, Greek History, and Greek Culture, keeping their connection to the language and heritage alive.

Teaching, for me, is much more than just a profession. It is a way to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Greek language and culture, especially for children of the Greek diaspora. Through my educational work, I aim to provide my students with not only knowledge but also a deeper understanding of their cultural identity. Our language is a living link to our history and traditions, and my greatest joy is helping my students discover, appreciate, and keep it alive, no matter where they are in the world.
